Sorry for being late with this. Disable session and starting the server
with nomigrrecl (TSM instance has to be restarted) usually works. Can be a
pain in the ... in a large Library manager/Library client environment to
get the appropriate downtime for the Library for all library clients. DonĀ“t
Zoltan, Yes, we were changing the target. The test retrievals were
also almost always to a different target than the source.
Thanks

Cc,
An important consideration in restoring a file is understanding the
retention settings of a copygroup and the distinction that two settings
affect HOW MANY copies of a file are kept after they change or are
deleted and two settings affect HOW LONG files are kept after they are
changed or
Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of acquiring new disk which means that I will be able to
layout the storage for the database, log and storage pools in a more efficient
manner. I was told by IBM that a filesystem should contain no more than 2-3
volumes and there should be a 1 to 1 ratio of
I would principally follow IBM's recommendations as put forth in the TSM
Performance Tuning Guide. You seem to be running AIX, where putting volumes
into a file system is the inferior approach to raw logical volumes (which I
use, and have found satisfying).

You didn't say whether this was for a v5 or a v6 server. It makes a
difference. On the v6 side, I think that IBM has recently been refining their
recommendations.

I'm doing this work right now for a big project here. My first endeavor into
Linux.
The lin_tape drivers for 6.2 will require a .rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d
(or wherever your udev stuff lives) mainly because of the instance owner/group
requirements to run 6.2 dsmserv processes. Unless
I was hoping not to have the opportunity to test this so soon, but
library problems do happen in clusters...
As it turns out, NOMIGRRECL did the trick. Thanks!

Do you know what your workload is going to be? For database sizing, you
need to know how many files total you will retain. For storage pool
sizing, you need to know your average and peak daily backup rates in
bytes. For recovery log sizing, you need to know how many files you will
backup in a
Paul,
Did you find out a definitive answer on this?
Initial searching shows that the crypto cards work on AIX, and are accessible
through a standardized API that banks use. The card itself seems to be a dual
PPC405e on card with a Linux service processor and DMA based communication back

Hi Guys,
I have plans to upgrade my TSM server from 5.4 version to 5.5.
Please share your views about this version upgrade and which is the
optimal level I should upgrade to (i.e. 5.5.x.x). I am doing this
upgrade as we have future plans to move to 6.2 version.
