Hello All,
Thanks for the reply.
But I want to initiate multiple session in parallel (concurrent).
I mean to say, 4 Active parallel restore session.
If I cancel the restore session, it will defeat my objective.

While we were running 6.2.2.0, we had one unpleasant occasion when the tape

The Linux admins said the error message indicated that the AIX box had run

The environment variable dsm_dir was set. It was set to the correct location.
Once the variable was removed the java error went away.
I guess java likes a clean environment to jog in...

I certainly hope TSM 6.2 does not need to be restarted. I am just getting it
installed.
If you are seeing a performance drop after it runs a long time ('long time' is
variable, here 'a while' is 6 months) you should open a PMR to get the problem
documented and fixed.

Our servers, all Windows, run with a once/month restart. That happens when I

Not all Windows updates require a boot, but I take advantage of the event to do
a quick restart while clients are aware I'm doing maintenance.

Sending them to tape (or a sequential filepool) will most certainly reduce

That's also correct. The hugely negative impact from running migration while
performing backups is due to the heavy load migration puts on the database

Also, using a random access disk pool that is undersized will result in
migration potentially kicking off while the backup/archive process is still
running. It has been my experience, and I have often read, this situation has
an enormous negative impact to the TSM server performance.

Hello. We have a couple Linux servers that we installed TSM on (had for a
while and they are backing up fine).
We installed:
TIVsm-API64.i386.rpm
TIVsm-API.i386.rpm
TIVsm-BA.i386.rpm
TIVsm-HSM.i386.rpm
I need to change the password and IP address as we are migrating from a z/OS

Hello,
is there a description or experience, how to migrate a TSM server
from TSM 6.1 Windows 2008 32bit
to TSM 6.2 Windows 2008 R2 64bit ?
What are the steps?
Is it less risk to use separat servers?
Thanks in advance
Andreas.
I am not 100% sure but think if you delete a file from the client itself
it will be deleted without having to run expiration.

You have a restartable restore saved in the TSM server.
Do a "q restore" on your TSM server prompt and you will see it.
Until you have either a) restarted the restore from where you left off b)
cancelled the restartable restore, you wont be able to initiate a new restore.

A migration process will always only use 1 process per node, independent on the

As for the original poster, you claim that you need to backup 300TB of data.

Hi Amit,
After some investigation I found that TSM can only use one Process (1 drive)
per node or one process per collocation group.
This is only when you are using Random disk. If you want to use multiple drives
you need to change from random disk to sequeneal disk.
