Management here is contemplating having us move our production TSM
servers to the CentOS Linux operating system, which is a free branch of
Red Hat.
Has anybody done this? What are the support issues with IBM?
(TSM Client is already supported on CentOS via "Best effort".)

Think the extra "s will do it.
The comma was a typo in the email, and missed the act=rest line when cutting
and pasting.
Funny how you stare at something time and time again but don't see the obvious.
Thanks all for the extra sets of eyes.

Oops, apparently I forgot how to count... the last item on my list, about
quoting the file specification, should be number 5.
The two pairs of quotes are important, because with only one pair of
quotes, the client will split the string you have into three items, where
the blanks spaces occur. The
Hi Gary,
1. There should be no comma between the domain name and the schedule name.
2. You need to specify action=restore as part of the schedule definition;
the default action is incremental.
3. I assume you are specifying valid date and times in the -pitdate and
-pittime options.

Thank you. Now I need to go and fix every single one of my backup
scripts. Now I am not sure why we are getting backup failures now on SQL
backup (we do, maybe we are only getting missed backup??)

Yes they do! But only the last echo.
The last command is an "echo". I have never seen an echo fail. It will always
return 0. The return code of the script will
Hi Tom,
Yes, they can.
I recommend capturing the ERRORLEVEL and then adding the EXIT... like
this:
tdpsqlc
set RC=%ERRORLEVEL%
exit %RC%

I should add that we DO get job failures when everything fails on an SQL
backup. But when we have these apparent network issues that only affect
part of the SQL backup it is reported as a success.
It appears that the SQL backup cannot tolerate any network issues, but the

The only thing we have after the backup command is some echo statements. I

-50 is the return code for DSM_RC_TCPIP_FAILURE. It can be indicative of a

Does the script capture the RC and then exit the script with that RC?
