We are running TSM 3.7.4 on OS/390 2.10 with RMM and haven't had any major
issues. Our tape media is Storage Teks 9840's and our biggest issue is with
the Storage Tek HSC and RMM software. HSC has a setting that won't allow
tapes to be used if they have a certain number of temporary err

looking in the clients sched log we are looking a 1.2 million files and the
majority of them are less that 1kb. If anyone has any other suggestions
please let me know.

If you create a new copy storage pool using the new STK device class you
can issue the 'Back storage command' to backup one storage pool to another.
That is how we migrated from IBM Magstar to STK 9840 devices.

The backup of this particular node is working but the number of bytes sent
during the backup is close to 300mb yet I am only backing up about 50

Check the estimated capacity that is set on the 'Device Class' for the
tape. This might be set at less that the actual capacity of the cartridge
you are using and if I recall can impact the amount of data that TSM will
write to the physical device.

our Novell group was working on this problem with Tivoli and Novell

I believe that there is a client option that can control this for you the
option is TCPCLIENTADDRESS. You can only use this option if you are running
in PROMPTED mode.

I have had an open issue with both Novell and IBM concerning this topic.
We only have the problem with the TSM 3.7 client and Netware 5.1. This
issue, according to IBM is a Novell issue.I just received an update from

data base is 21GB supporting 152 clients. Total backup files 26,000,000
total archive files 4,000,000. Data base is currently at 50% utilization.
