Hello *SMers,
An IBM business partner said to me that restores are what TSM is plugged for. My
feeling is that on low number of file restores I can understand, but on restores for
large number of files there is much to be desired.
I can not find any one post on the listserv that sums up how
Hello All:

Anybody,
I am trying to get the scheduler service to run in the background and to
continue running after a logout. My TSM server is ver. 4.1.4.1 and AIX
4.3.3, my tsm b-a client is 4.1.4 on a Unix Tru64 OS. I was using the

and type bg enter it will send the task to

background. We have never been able to get nohup to work on the dsmserv
start up and go to the background. The other possibility is to put the
whole think in parenthesis (nohup dsmc schedule 2 /dev/null ).

The only time I have seen this message is when NIC settings and
Switch/Router settings were not hardset to the same port speeds. I.e.
100/FULL or 10/half, etc...

Has anybody seen this error before? I have about 20 files that the B/A
client is 'skipping. . .' The common theme is that the files do not
have file extensions.

Do you have any experience using the snmp .mib files that are sent with
tivoli and/or AIX? I have been planning to give it a shot, but I was
hoping to get any input I can before starting. I am going to try to get
them to work with either NetIQ or HPOpenView if at all possible.

I am looking for suggestions. I have a NAS solution that needs to be
backed up. I was hoping to specify a network drive on a particular
windows b/a client, until I realized that I had to be logged in all the
time to back it up. I want to be able to backup a NAS share without
being logged in
I was wondering if anybody has had any luck using the ODBC driver and
Access 2000 to run read-only queries and run reports on the syscat
table. Innitially I have had success in setting this up but that only
lasts until I close the database I created. I have to recreate the
links every time. I

We have 2 Tivoli Servers connected to our 3584 library w/ 8 SCSI drives.
Each server has its own connection to seperated tape drive loops. We
had to do a Advanced configuration to specify drives and I/O slots. Our
setup consists of 2 completely seperate TSM servers with their own set

I have a win2k cluster as well. We currently have the local
backup/archive client backing up each associated resource on each
cluster node. I want to configure TSM for failover services as well.
My understanding of the install goes like this:
1. Install the b/a client on both cluster nodes.
I would definitely suggest collocation if you can't afford the tapes for
full backups. Another suggestion if you are backing up large flat
directories (i.e. Home directories), use the dirmc option to keep
directory structures on disk if need be. This can really speed up a
restore.

Does anybody know of any issues kicking off the clean command on a
