Hello Andy,
it´s a fact that audits are painfully slow ... - some weeks ago my tsm
productive DB 30GB DB-Size on a p570
and a DS8100 (AIX 5.3/TSM 5.4.1.2) needed an audit - 12 hours later the
audit was done !! So I think the audit process doesn´t care about fast

Hello Michael,
lin driver depends on your distribution:
(if you are using SuSE or RH checkout Version and archives,
because the driver depends on the installed kernel

Hi Andi,
We are using TSM 5.4 since Version 5.4.0.2. Running on AIX 5300-06-03-0732.
We came from TSM 5.3.5.2 - Easy migration - just use smitty update_all :-)
But we decided to use the Active Data Pool feature. - Well this was a big
mistake - we had serveral server crashes, audits (downtime near
...Additionally, does it make sense to incarnate another TSM instance?
Hello Nicholas,
yes it makes sense - not because of performance purposes or anything else,
but in case of
logical errors in your database, which require an dsmserv audit db - .. so
we have

Hello Werner,
on AIX Systems I found a script named:
/opt/IBM/ISC6011/Tivoli/dsm/bin/backupisc
usage backupisc iscadmin iscadminspassword
this one generates the following:
/opt/IBM/ISC6011/Tivoli/stage/WebSphereConfig_2007-09-14.zip
restore script is also in
/opt/IBM/ISC6011/Tivoli/dsm/bin/re
Hi Sunanda,
Have you configured your devclass like this (taken from my devconfig file):
DEFINE DEVCLASS 3592_CLASS DEVTYPE=3592 FORMAT=DRIVE MOUNTLIMIT=DRIVES
MOUNTWAIT=60 MOUNTRETENTION=5 PREFIX=ADSM LIBRARY=3584LIB WORM
=NO DRIVEENCRYPTION=ALLOW SCALECAPACITY=100

hello goran,
you need an dsm.opt (which is no link to an existing dsm.opt !!!) in:
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64/
it should contain the following entry:
SERVERNAME ASMPSR_tdpo
then your tdp is able to find the right stanza in the "global" dsm.sys file.

Hello Mark,
we are currently using both - Linux and AIX as TSM-Server Platform
(5.3.4.2) . There is no difference in stability,
both are running well.
But handling disk storage (eg database volumes or diskpool volumes)
running with aix is a lot easier.
LVM coming with AIX is quite easier to
