My company is currently looking at backing up approximately 40 NT servers at
our remote locations, back to our local data center. Each location has around

We are looking at using PolyServe or GPFS in our cluster as a common NSF server for
our linux HPC cluster and Solaris systems.
How are people are using these in HPC environments and how do you back them up? We
would like to use TSM.

Run an audit against the tape volume. (audit volser fix=yes). Once the audit
completes you can then delete the volume from TSM.
We have this happen to volume on occasion.

If you turn on simultaneous writes to copy storage pools, do you still need to perform
a backup of that storage pool via the BACKUP STGPOOL command?
For instance... We back up our large Exchange servers to a primary storage pool

You can run a preview of what data will be backed up to the copy stgpool,
then launch the acutal backup copypool command. The preview will give you
the amount of data that needs to be backed up from you primary storage pools
to your copystgpool.

What level of microcode are you currently running on your 3590 tape drives.
We are running 3590E1A tape drives with a microcode level of D22E. We have
been on this level of code for quite some time with no errors. Our 3590's
are also house within a 3494.

in the copypool do not need to have a FULL status to be reclaimed. Once a
copypool volume with an access=offsite has been reclaimed, it will have
