We first installed adsm on VM in the 1993 timeframe and have since
migrated to AIX come to think of it, it is time for another
upgrade.
Take care,

Hello everybody,
Netware seems to be the one environment where I find the stars need to
be aligned properly for everything to work for backups and restores. I
am wondering what version of TSM client and what versions of
TSAFS/TSA600/SMDR everybody is using out there for both Netware 6 and

We are having great problems backup up lab image files that are 8+
Gbytes in size from a Netware server. I have tried various versions of
TSM. The Netware support guys have installed various version of TSAUP
... the current versions we are trying are dated from June of 2004 for
both TSAFS and SMD
We have a Netware server here that has large 8 GB files on it. The
backup backs up only the first 4 Gbytes of the file. The Netware guys
just installed the latest patches, we are running TSM client 5.2.2.9.
Any ideas out there any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Any chance the filesystem that they are trying to restore to no longer
exists on the client side?

Try do a normal restore ... in the restore command specify '-volinfo
-replace=no' as part of you parameters and you should be fine. The
rights should be restored but the file not replaced if it exists.

The Netware people here are trying to restore files backed up from one
server to another. They are receiving a fair number of TSA600 errors
with a 315 code associated with it ... anybody seen this and have any
suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Peter
Running TSM server on AIX ... AIX is at 4.3.3 maintenance level 10, TSM
server is a 5.1.5.2. Anybody seen 'phantom' sessions left behind by
using a webrowser that seem to use plenty of cycles on the server? Is
is just me or are others seeing this?

I have a Netware TSM client V4.2.2 ... should run daily at 00:45 am.
There are about 10 clients that should run at this time. All of them
run at the correct time except for this one. Sometimes it runs at the
correct time, other times it is given a run time 2-3 days in the future.

I have a server that I am trying to load DSMCAD.NLM version 5.1.5.1.
When I try to load the NLM I get a message similar to the following:

I recently installed the TSM 4.2.1.0 client on a couple of our Netware
servers. Seems to work fine, even backup up our NDS which has roughly
80,000 entries. My questions is that all the files being backed up are
reported as having a length of 0 bytes. The NDS files are the only ones

I posted a note a while back about moving our VM TSM server to an AIX

procedure (or close to it) for carrying out such a task. Is it
necessary to export all data and re-import to the new server? If yes,

Hello gang,
I am looking for some words of wisdom. We are currently starting to
plan a move of our ancient TSM 3.1.2.50 server to an AIX TSM 4.x server
(not sure what version).
I have a few questions:
1) Do I simply backup our db from TSM on VM and restore to TSM on AIX?
How long will the back
Hello Jim,
If you have any weird punctuation in your pw ... try change the pw to
exclude any punctuation ... had a problem here where removing a '.' in
the pw fixed our problem.

Hello group,
I hope somebody can help me. We are trying to backup our NDS and are
running into a problem. As the NDS backs up, the amount of memory
'consumed' by SMDR.NLM grows and grows until no more short term memory
can be allocated on the server. Our NDS is relatively large but for the

Hello,
Recently we migrated to a mixed 3490/3590 tape environment. ADSM
(V3.1.2.50) is running on VM/ESA V2 R3.0 SL9806. The problem is that
when ADSM asks for a tape to be mounted r/o, the robotic unit mounts it
r/w and ADSM rejects the tape since it is not r/o. Any idea why this is
