Hi Paul
A strange volume config indeed
One thing I'd ask is when was the last time this server was

Hi Rick
Our unload/reload what about 10 weeks ago and halved our database from
100Gb for 50Gb... the database has grown by 20% since but expire
inventory is still much quicker than it was prior to the unload/reload,
it is however taking longer than immediately after the process...

Matthew,
We get exactly the same with our LAN-free image backup filespaces.
We're on TSM Server 5.2.2.3.

I would be surprised if you were having problems with a 30Gb database
due to its size, as 30Gb is not that large. How long has this database
existed?
Has it ever had an unload/reload performed on it?
I did an unload/reload on our 100Gb database and it took a total of 29
hours. This was on a

We are experiencing problems because of windows limitation. In a

Thanks for your reply. I had already tried what you suggested.
I was dead close but I hadn't got my mgmtclass set up properly on my
library client... what a silly mistake..
It now works.

Both TSM clients have a mapped network drive (F:) to a NetApp filer. On

I'm doing this to reduce the size of the database, on my DR server it
reduced 40%. Also expire inventory doesn't currently finish with 24
hours. This took 7 hours on the DR server after I'd reloaded the
database.
Cheers

TSM Server 5.2.2.3 on win2k SP4
This weekend I'm going to be doing a unload / load of our 100Gb TSM
Database. The steps I'm going to do once I have a couple of DB backups

Halt TSM
Dsmserv unloaddb devc=filedev
Delete the log and db volumes from windows
Dsmserv loadformat num_log_vols

Did you really mean that you are taking a TSM Database backup once every
15 days?? If that's true, you are braver than me !
