Nevermind I found the problem. Funny how that always works. Soon as you ask the question you think of another idea and sure enough find the problem. Some of the disk pool volumes were "read-only" due to a problem the server experienced earlier. Soon as I realized that I just updated them to read-write and voila.. off it goes.
