Is it possible to export a node, then import the node back to a
Different domain on the same server.
Yes, but not exactly that way: You can:
a) export the node
b) rename the current node to node-temp
c) import the node
d) rename node to node-imported
e) update node-imported domain=newdomain
f)
Is it possible to export a node, then import the node back to a
Different domain on the same server. If so, will inactive versions
of files with no active version be controlled by the policy of the new
domain?
It looks like the filedata parameter defaults to filedata=all. You either
need to say filedata=all or look at that parameter in the help and decide
what you need. If you have that, then it might be time to call IBM.

I may be wrong but I have seen this before when attempting an import if the

The missing context in this problem may be revealing. We don't know

a new TSM server, in transitioning from a different server.

By default, when you do the IMPORT for a duplicate node, with duplicate
filespace names, TSM will create new filespace names.
As I recall, a filespace named /data will be imported as /data2, so as
not to overlay the existing data.
Look at the IMPORT NODE command, there is a MERGEFILESPAC

The import fails, and terminates the session of the admin trying to import.
I have tracked this tidbit down:
One of the management classes in the domain where the node was exp

devclass or define the LTO to the library manager so that it is seen by the
old TSM 4.1 server to perform the export / import?
Any comments would be welcomed? If you were successful or not in this type
Oh .. its server to server and not REAL tapes.
