Hi
we got same problem in TSM client after upgrading.
Scan thoroughly and compare dsm.sys,dsm.opt files with other clients.
If you find everything normal comment inclexclude line in dsm.opt.Stop and start TSM
process.
If not check ur communication subsystem running or not.

Lawrence,

The actual server that TSM is on might be running but I don't think that the
actual TSM server is up. For unix the command to start it up again is

# /usr/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.adsmserv

Other problems could be the port that you are trying to connect to the
server on. Try starting a "dsmadmc" session on the server and see what it
says. If you get a similiar error then it is not running.

>From there look at the activitiy log to see what happened.

If it was a password problem then it would tell you that there was an
invalid session/password.

Hi:
Just installed a new client.
It can ping the server and the server can ping the client. However, on
invoking a backup i get:

tsm> back /home/root/*
Node Name: EIMSX
ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure

Selective Backup function invoked.

ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure

from dsmerror.log

01/23/02 11:02:07 TcpOpen: TCP/IP error connecting to server.
01/23/02 11:02:07 sessOpen: Failure in communications open call. rc: -50
01/23/02 11:02:07 ANS1017E Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure

Any suggestions?
