Recently the topic came up about managing device drivers under Windows. An excellent reference that too many users don't know about is the "IBM SCSI Tape Drive, Medium Changer, and Library Device Drivers" reference. It addresses Magstar tape drives and libraries for a variety of platforms. The Windows section has fine screen-shot examples. This manual set has come along way from its origins as a basic, text-only publication out of the hardware area, and is now a nice 2-manual set, available in both PostScript and PDF forms. (Note that there is a defect in the formatting of at least the PostScript version, where the left margins of the front-facing pages are near the edge of the sheet, where they are obscured when bound. I am contacting Publications to get this corrected.) Also therein you will find documentation of the 'tapeutil' and 'mtlib' commands, plus other aids and insights. How to obtain: "IBM SCSI Tape Drive, Medium Changer, and Library Device Drivers" manuals: (Installation and User's Guide GC35-0154 Programming Reference WB2107) FTP to ftp.storsys.ibm.com, in /devdrvr directory, capture: IBM_scsi_tape_IUG.ps and/or IBM_scsi_tape_IUG.pdf IBM_scsi_tape_PROGREF.ps and/or IBM_scsi_tape_PROGREF.pdf If you have Magstar tape drives or libraries, this is a must-have.
