different keywords order - > different search volume on broad match?

Hi, What is the definition of broad match when it comes to search volumes? (and not to adwords ad placements). i was expecting that a search for: rolex watches and rolex watch would be the same, since broad match would take plurals into account, but they are not the same and executive education
