Easiest solution to this is to position the SM antenna in a location where it
cannot see the reflected signal from the corn field but still has clean LOS to
the main beam. We try to get clever about using features on the rooftop,
building, etc.. to block the multipath reflection.

If that's the case, then maybe some uptilt on the SM, effectively moving
the AP to the bottom of the pattern might work. Of course this relies on
an antenna pattern with fairly sharp cutoff at the edges.

Definitely not recommended.
The bus is not designed for hot swapping. So while you might get away with
it, it isn't recommended.
