This is incorrect. Many people established an email account over a decade ago with their ISP, haven't changed ISPs, and find the task of changing their email address and updating all of their contacts too much hassle. Same with old aol accounts. At this point, I think it's kind of neat that

I've been using Thunderchicken since I don't know when. I've got it strapped to at least 4 different SMTP servers. Runs fine, lasts a long time. (BTW - Thunderchicken is slang for Thunderbird; kind of a carry over from a Ford car with a similar name)
