I guess those tactics work on some. Of course I don't require structurals
unless the tower is getting close to its max.

I thought a structural was always more than $3K?

We have tower drawings and original structural analysis from tower owners.
They just want an analysis done on our additional load. I was hoping to
find a vendor to do this under 1k since it should be quick and easy with
all the info we can provide.
So far, only one vendor has been recommended.
If a tower company starts giving me a huge price for a structural analysis I
usually come back with:
Please provide me a copy of your last tower inspection. I want to make sure
the tower shows no problems that were covered in a routine inspection. If they
can’t produce one it’s bargaining

How about asking the Tower owner who was the last engineer who did the
structural on that tower.. and contacting them..
If they are cooperative, it could be the least expensive option than going to
someone new..
Just my 2 cents.

I saw an analysis done by DCI on a public safety tower and frankly was so
ridiculous for adding three 3.65 Sectors on at 45 ft mark of 300 tower. I
understand when wind loading can be an issue on some towers but this was a
tower with 8 ft base and guyed... One 6 ft dish at 80 ft mark with VHF and
Depending on the age of the tower this might be complicated by the tower
originally engineered and stamped as 222F, new installations requiring
recalculation to 222G standards.

Or just ask for an original wet stamped as built schematic of the tower,
you would be surprised how many companies have "lost" theirs.
