I rack up airline miles when possible… the miles are “ok” for free stuff but I
want the status – free lounge access, always upgraded to first class etc….

seat and play around with first class, etc
I do international and generally it is Delta. But domestic Southwest normally
gets my business.

IMO, the Southwest Visa is the best bet. I put EVERYTHING on it and I
regularly earn companion pass (wife flys free) and I get an additional 8-12
flights per year.

It's worth 'playing' if you pay the card off every month. Barclay 2x card is
decent and gives 2 times the points and you get a bonus 40,000 ($400) of top of
head. Another card does 1.5x for everything and no annual charge. Points accrue
online and after you buy any airline or hotel, you 'credit'
