I almost set one up that way last week, but decided to just put it in
bridge mode with a Mikrotik behind it instead... apparently that was a good
decision.

Go back and read what you wrote.
Maybe I'm not understanding the situation, but it sounds like they're

Apologies. Looks like we are just using the NAT mode not router mode.. I
just didn't realize it for whatever reason. I've got a lab setup for EPMP I
can play with.. what are you trying to accomplish?

What about a traceroute from upstream to the SM LAN? Does it just die?

And honestly, I don't really see the point in router mode on a CPE
radio, but I know others asked for it and Cambium did it, so that's cool
and all, but I won't use it. Hey, more options are better than less, or
the Motorola way of you do what we say, ya unnastan?

How are you assigning it an IP on the wireless/WAN side? Maybe a default
route thing? And then an upstream route back to the LAN side of the SM?

No. Unless you mean NAT. I messed with NAT. Unexplained latency issues,
so I switched that customer back to bridge. The first one I tried. Of
course that was a couple releases ago.
