Before we got our fiber feed into district we used two fed by bonded T-1s
to keep things smooth as possible.. They worked well... I never got to play
with them as I was in charge of getting district fiber infrastructure
built... Conduit and enclosures outdoors and conduit indoors..

We used one quite a long while ago. At the time, we were behind the
curve in terms of $/Mbps, and this allowed us to live with the bandwidth
we had while we worked on a fatter pipe. It worked reasonably well, and
it did reduce complaints. However, our bandwidth requirements grew

Bandwidth shaper, QoS, DDoS detection. If I remember right it had some
caching features, but that's largely useless for most modern traffic flows.
P2P blocking, but not sure how effective that part is as it wasn't used at
the time.
