I bring up economic issues on this list occasionally because it is the
air that we all breathe, the ocean we all swim in (metaphorically
ofcourse) and because biblical-scale events are in the pipeline.
My previous predictions were based on underlying trends but failed to
account for the intent
Please note the, uh, popularity of the notion that there is no free will.
Also note Matt's prior comment on recursive self improvement having started
with primitive technology.

Whats with everyone these days viewing markets and economy as some sort of
'general intelligence'? Those are essentially just voting mechanisms and voting
mechanisms produce poor decisions all the time.
