http://ai.neocities.org/perlmind.txt is the ghost.pl AI in Strawberry Perl
Five. Just this past week the AI Perlmind has been updated with the coding
of the InFerence, AskUser and KbRetro modules for automatic reasoning
with logical inference. For the AskUser module to beep when seeking human
attention or not to beep -- that is the question.

Although the AI Mind Maintainers might not be surprised at all if they
trigger a logical inference and hear a BEEP from the Perl instantiation of
the First Working AGI, users down the line may teach the AI a lot of
knowledge and be surprised to hear a BEEP now and then when the Perlmind
comes to a logical conclusion, especially if the AI is reading electronic
text-files or surfing the Web for information.

Right now we do not dare include the Perl code that will let the AI read
textfiles on the user's hard disk. Since there are hundreds of thousands of
Perl coder out there, they may see fit to enhance and extend the Perl AI
with manifold features, such as exploring text-files, CR-ROMs or the Web.

Eventually some Perl coders may augment the Perl AI codebase with an
ability of the Perlmind to transfer its own source code and its own memory
data from website to website.

Other Perl coders might like to set the Perl AI up as a hosted Web Mind
open to visitors.

Robotics clubs might like to grant robot embodiment to visiting AI
Perlminds living and thinking in one location but remotely interacting with
the world in a far-away robot body.

Respectfully submitted,

Mentifex (Arthur)
