A quick amendment. I won't be able to check in the tool until Monday as the
remote login seems to not be working, but you can still get an idea of what it
does.

Subject: [Oscar-devel] OPKG Version Comparisons

Hi all,

I've been working on the new Package Set Manager with Geoffroy and
Thomas and as part of it, you can specify requirements for a package
that you are selecting in terms of versioning (i.e. I want any package
greater than version 1.2.3). In working on this I discovered that there
is not really a specification to compare versions for the new OPKG
system for version numbers so we worked on one which I'd like to propose
here. The documentation for it can be found on the wiki
(http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/OPKGVersioning).
The comparison scheme is based on the Debian way of comparing version
numbers (it's actually mostly the same code).

I'm checking in the comparison tool as well. I've done some testing on
it, but it isn't exhaustive yet by any means. I still need to add a
quick parser to separate the version number from the revision number.

Any thoughts?
