I am being asked to rebuild all reverse dependencies of dcmtk to
transition to 3.6.8 (*). I have tried without success to get access to
debomatic-amd64 with no luck so far.
Would anyone have any other suggestions to get this transition rolling
(stuck for 5 months now).

I believe I found an edge case in OFStandard::atof logic. Consider the
following ASCII string float > 16 bytes (valid case for input such as
XML or JSON).
Here is what I see on my side Debian/stable (dcmtk 3.6.7):
