Haven't really looked into it myself, but
https://pypi.python.org/pypi/caldav/0.2.2 looks like it could work for
you. Documentation says that it works with the caldav interface that
owncloud provides.

However, by default the pg_dump utility does not backup OIDs. Does ownCloud
make use of the OIDs (e.g. foreign keys)? Or can I omit them in my backup?

"running" when it is accessed. Thus, it is completely unaware of files
copied directly into the data folder because it is not active. You could
try to use cron to run the ownCloud script every minute or so.

I ask because I created a server, connected a few (three) clients to it, and
put a few (half a dozen) files into one computer. Sure enough, it synced to
the other clients, no problem. So then I tried sticking all the stuff I care
about in there
