We have a mix of separate records and single records. We use Aspen though
and if they are in separate records in Evergreen (and they group
correctly), Aspen shows the different editions to patrons who then can
place a hold for a specific copy.

[Evergreen-general] Staff training

[Millissa Macomber via Evergreen-general]

For anyone who does staff training - Our system is in the process of
beginning to share resources between libraries. I have one library with a
large number of staff members who are reluctant and unhappy about the
changes. Any suggestion on how to alleviate the fears surrounding sharing
resources? I  have a staff training planned for November so I would love
some ideas.

We autoload students into our system from lists provided by the school
district. We don't provide a physical card until the student comes into the
library and requests it. Most of the time we look up the students by name
in our system.

[Evergreen-general] Analytics

We recently purchased Gale Analytics so we could see what type of material in 
our library is being checked out and what subject areas we may need to bulk up. 
We are running into ongoing issues loading the data into their system. Has 
anyone else used Gale Analytics? Any suggestions for a small, single-branch 
library to get basic information about our collection? We are brainstorming 
that maybe just running some sort of report that shows Subject or Genre 
Headings from the MARC record would be beneficial.

We actually just asked this same question of our local people who manage the 
ILS for us. Their suggestion was to use the Name Keywords box for pronouns. 
This puts a little ticket icon next to the patron's name that would alert staff 
to look for that field further down in the patron summary. Alert messages could 
also work (that would provide a message that staff would have to clear before 
moving on with the transaction).
