If a single cell is selected it works correctly. To re-create: Create a new document. Table->Insert Table->Ok. Select top two cells and change background colour to black. File -> Save As. Select "save as type" as Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP(.doc) Open saved document in Microsoft word 2002 (10.6854.6854) SP3.
