------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jun 25 07:12:10 -0700 2006 ------- GTK has the possibility to change the input method. For example, in a GNOME terminal, gedit, or nearly any text field, one can select the desired input method from the right-click menu. Text boxes in Openoffice.org applications have there own menu's, so the input method cannot be changed; it always uses the default method for the language in which gnome is running. It would be useful to have an option to change the input method of Writer's document, of Calc's cells, and other text fields. This should probably be coupled to the language of the text that is being typed (which is set by the user). For example, a spreadsheet could contain a column for English words, a column for pronunciation, and some columns for translations. For the first column, the user wants to use the default input method (nothing special). For the second column, IPA input method would be used. The next columns would get appropriate input methods for typing that language, defaulting to the method chosen for each language by the user in the options dialog, and overridable per cell if needed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
