I was not able to replicate this issue. I am on a Windows XP machine printing
to a Brother HL-5250 printer, using OOo-dev 3.4.0 DEV300m100 (Build:9571).

I performed these steps:
1. Opened OOo-dev 3.4.0
2. Clicked "Presentation"
3. Clicked "Create" (selected "Empty Presentation")
4. Deleted Title and Text Box
5. Clicked on "Insert->Picture->From File
6. Double-Clicked on a .JPG file (that was inserted into the presentation)
7. Clicked on Print Icon
RESULT: slide printed fine

EDITED THE IMAGE WITH THESE STEPS:
1. Right Clicked on image, selected "Crop Picture"
2. Changed scale to 85 width and 85 height
3.  Printed slide using Menu->File->Print
RESULT: slide printed fine

EDITED THE IMAGE AGAIN WITH THESE STEPS:
1. Right Clicked on image, selected Flip->Vertically
2. Printed slide using Menu->File->Print

Both times, the slide printed okay. I then:
1. Saved the file
2. Exited OpenOffice
3. ReEntered OpenOffice
4. Opened file
5. Right Clicked on image, selected Convert->3D
6. Printed slide using print icon
