Just updated to OOO310m11 (build: 9399) - from previous 3.0.?

Windows XP up-to-date w/all SP's etc. (auto update)
old dell 2350 w/only 1000meg memory)
But never had a hint of this problem before upped OOO to 3.1
Once get past problem and program is running (see below) still have 250-300 Meg
free memory)(More if not also running other stuff -FFox, OutEx, etc. - so memory
limitation does not seem relevant.)

PROBLEM:
Calc will not load (initially) a "moderately large" spreadsheet (1075KB on HD)
as the FIRST spreadsheet loaded on/after OOO startup. (either from shortcut on
desktop (OOO not yet running) OR from the recent documents list if OOO already
running but no other sheet has been loaded before.

WHAT HAPPENS:
Get opening logo, normal progress, loading screen, loading progress bar advances
~ 2-inches, pauses, and OOO "disappears". Back to desktop like nothing ever
happened. No hangup, no lockup, just "poof" and back to where was.
Like OOO was never started. Is just "gone".

HOWEVER, if first load a smaller spreadsheet (~192KB on HD) using either method
(shortcut start/load OOO OR recent docs list in already running OOO) then close
that sheet, leaving OOO running, the larger sheet will then load properly (using
either shortcut or recent docs list) and "all is well".

If then shutdown the "problem spreadsheet", leaving OOO running, can reload it
w/no problem.
But if s/d OOO and then try to start w/large sheet before loading a smaller
sheet, will not work.
Have repeated problem many times and tried loading from backup file on other HD
and from removable flash drive. Same problem regardless of source.

The "problem spreadsheet" is mostly data tables w/many interconnected formulae
and two fairly small graphs.
(smaller sheets are similar content, but w/o any graphs)

Repeat: Never a hint of problem w/previous OOO version. And no problems w/3.1
if FIRST load, then shutdown, any one of (tried several different) smaller
spreadsheets.

Is as though have to "prime the pump" (program) to get it to load the larger
spreadsheet. (an irritating extra step, though)

Is there a setting in tools/somewhere to solve/"workaround" this, or should just
wait/hope later build will solve?
