The issue that triggered request for change was this:
I tested some other issue with simple Calc table.
I changed the cell, but I did not exited the cell, rushing to see what will
happen on Save, I just went to File > Save and Save was grayed out.

For me file was changed and I wanted to save it, but due to way Calc is
working change was not registered and Save button was grayed out. My reaction
was quite average, to use 'Save as' button that was still marked as active and
in popup window all I had to do was to click OK and file was saved including
the change I made. Does anyone think that this way around is necessary and
shows superiority of OpenOffice?

BTW, argument that grayed out Save is good as indicator that file is not
changed in this case fails. File was changed, but Save button was grayed out.
How intuitive is this?

Afterwards, trying to guess what went wrong, I opened file again, changed
another cell, but this time moved cursor out of changed cell, and Save was
available.

How many users, used to another programs, would consider this as normal?
Until they get that they have to place cursor to another cell in order
to "ungray" Save, Calc behavior will appear as erratic. Sometimes Save works,
sometimes not.
How many of users would go extra step to check what happened?
Majority will come to conclusion that you get what you pay for, and forget
OOo. In case of OOo that will not change balance sheet, but StarOffice bottom
line will suffer.

For me, until someone finds time to change Calc behavior, having Save always
on is good workaround.
