The result can be illegible, depending on the system color settings. See attached screenshot. The correct behavior is to use the system background color -- as indeed is used for empty fields, column headers, and so forth. Steps to reproduce: 1. Choose a system color scheme that does not use white backgrounds, such as the eMaCs GTK2 theme. The problem will not be evident if your system uses white backgrounds normally. 2. File->New->Database, create a database. 3. Create a table in design view. 4.
