------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Dec 3 19:52:12 +0000 2008 ------- Large corporations has security and data managements concerns with independendent, user-created local databases with tools like MSAccess and OO Base. The data stored locally can hold sensitive data out of IT control and Base/Access application can grow up to a point where user cannot manage the application without the help of IT specialist, which were not aware of the existting application. Today if the IT shop wants to prevent users to create databases in OO, they have to remove oo Base from the installation, or install OO without Base. This has a negative impact because users can't create and register data sources, which affects features like mailing list, Data Pilot, etc... The idea is to allow in a configuration file, the removal of the first option of database wizzard creation, which is "create a new database". That way, user will not be able to create a new local database, but will be able to register data sources for existing databases such as Server RDBMS or flat files such as txt or spreadsheets. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
