(Note, that there already exist a switch to disable packaging of the Vera fonts in ~/m109/share/fonts/truetype, so the proposed idea might not be too strange). On recent linux distros there already are plenty of ttf files available. Additionally users today can use CUPS as printing backend. Consequently we could strip of *.afm fonts and *.ps printer drivers from OOo package without removing functionality and at the same time reducing OOo in package size.
