------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Aug 26 15:20:16 +0000 2008 ------- I just spent the last half hour trying different things to get my tooltips to show up in OpenOffice.org. Then, as I was inspecting the settings file "Common.xcu" in my OpenOffice.org preferences folder, I came across the "Tip" setting, which I noticed was set to "false". It occurred to me that this setting may actually be referring to "tooltips". I guess at some point I had disabled the "Tip" setting under the General preferences pane because I thought it was another one of those annoying features where your word processor tries to be smart and suggest better ways of doing things. Little did I know that the setting actually referred to "tooltips"! I had no idea. In my mind, "tooltips" are a very specific element of graphical user interfaces - a little box that pops up when I hover over a toolbar button - and I find them to be very helpful. "Tips", on the other hand, could mean anything to me, but what first comes to my mind is something like an annoying talking paperclip, which I have never found to be helpful and always immediately disable when I start using a word processor. This is probably why I automatically disabled the "tips" setting without thinking. I think it would be helpful to your users if you renamed the "Tips" setting to "Tooltips"; I think it would make more sense to more people. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
