Boxes, text boxes, and line objects share formatting information by default. 
Specifically, I noticed the background color, line color, and transparency
properties changed on all the objects when changed on just one.

I was collaborating on slides for a presentation, and imported my associate's
work from Power Point 2003.  I wanted to add simple graphics by drawing text
boxes and arrows.  I added a picture that I 'grayed-out' by placing a box with
transparency over it.

It was not obvious how to decouple these shared object styles.  Instead, I
waited until I could get the presentation back into MS Office 2k3 before I fixed
the transparency and color issues.
