However, if the presentation were moved to another computer for display ... it would be trouble. The target file for linking has carefully been placed in the same directory. Trying to insert a relative file path ... leads Impress to pre-pend a "http://" which is not desired ... and causes the link to NOT work. Trying to remove the "http://" makes Impress crash. I found this older issue report: Issue 8735.
