I wasn't able to find an entry elsewhere for this particular item. MS Excel has a keyboard shorcut for entering the current time in the active cell: Ctrl+Shift+; [semi-colon]. The shortcut for entering the current date is Ctrl+;. This is a handy feature for those [like me!] who use the spreadsheet for making current time and date entries.
