------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 1 02:29:37 -0800 2005 ------- INDEX(reference;row;column;range) is described in the function list within Calc as returning a 'reference to a cell from a defined range' but is described in the separate Help application as returning the 'content of a cell'. These two descriptions of the INDEX function are in conflict. In fact, it appears that INDEX returns the content rather than a reference. By contrast, in Excel, INDEX returns either the content or a reference, depending on the context. In any case, Excel allows a construct such as: SUM(INDEX(A1:A8,3):INDEX(A1:A8,6)) but Calc reports "Err:508" if given SUM(INDEX(A1:A8;3):INDEX(A1:A8;6)) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
