------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Jun 12 00:49:52 -0700 2005 ------- There has been some discussion on the forums about reproducing the Word Perfect typesetting/text/advance function . This is about locating a bit of text at a precise vertical position, regardless of the flow above it. Old printers used to provide 'vertical tabbing', a useful feature when printing cheques, for example. Vertical tabbing was once common in word processors. It was used, for example, to align addresses for windowed envelopes or position dates/salutations/references on pre-printed letterheads. All of this can be done with tables, text boxes, etc. But they are clumsy and can move unpredictably. It can be done with paragraph spacing - but would have to be reworked after every edit above, and achieving a true alignment can be complex. I would like to suggest a true vertical tabbing mechanism - perhaps paragraph styles could have an absolute XY start location? I have listed this for writer, but what about the spreadsheet? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
