2005 -------
Just do it this way step by step:
* open an empty writer document
* create a trivial macro in your preferred language (I tested OOoBasic and Java)
* run it via Tools/Macro/Run Macro... (it will work if it's trivial enough ;-) )
* open page preview (File/Page Preview)
* now look at Tools/Macro/Run Macro...
  * there are no document associated macros
* close the page preview
* now look at Tools/Macro/Run Macro...
  * there are also no document associated macros

Comments:
If you try to run a macro with a custom toolbar or menu you get an error
that there is no macro.
