However, in Spanish, D. is the equivalent of Mr., i.e. in Spanish Mr. Peter Smith will be written as D. Peter Smith with the consequent self-numbering It is extremely annoying to write any formal letter with this "feature". The self-numbering feature for roman numeral should be disabled by defect in this case.
