------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 14 13:32:30 -0700 2005 ------- Hi, I just tested the Chinese conversion function, and see some quite serious problems. 1) For example, 食 in traditional Chinese IS the same as simplified Chinese used in mainland China. However, when using the conversion function, it is translated to 饣, which is incorrect (at least not in mainland China, which is the place where most people who uses simplified Chinese are). 2) Another problem is that Traditional Chinese => simplified Chinese is a direct Char to Char translation. However, when translating from simplified Chinese to traditional Chinese, this is not the case. To explain it in simple terms, zhT to zhS is a "more to one" char to char translation. While when translating from zhS to zhT, one char may be translated into a few different zhT chars, and the program must try to decide which to convert and which not. The first problem is probably quite easy to correct. And the function is still "usable" in its current form (though it is quite problematic really). But the second problem makes simplified Chinese => traditional Chinese unusable because it can convert incorrectly, which makes it even harder to read.
