I have always used a program called "Macro Express" to program macros at the
overall Windows level. This program works well with every program I've ever
used, including OO 1.1.15. When programming a macro in this program, one has a
choice of making it "Global" (i.e., to work with all programs) or "Program
Specific" (for a specific program or programs).

As OO cannot map a macro directly to the Keyboard Minus key, I mapped a simple
macro ("deleteword") in 2.0 to the F4 key (and this works fine). I then used
Macro Express to map the F4 key to the Keyboard Minus key. When I specify in Mac
ro Express that this should be "Global," the macro works fine in 00 2.0 RC3, but
if I specify it to be "Program Specific" and select OO 2.0 (actually, I specify
"soffice.exe"), the macro is simply not recognized.

I confirmed this problem with Macro Express, who wrote me as follows:

"We have tested this and have found the same results. It is most likely an
issue with OpenOffice 2. There still may be some bugs in their code as it is a
beta version."

I can add that I have used the same "Program Specific" method to program the
Keyboard Minus key using Macro Express to delete a single word in OO 1.1.5,
WordPerfect 11, MS Word 2003, and a number of other programs, without any
problems.
