------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Oct 31 06:09:23 -0800 2005 ------- When you assign numbering to heading levels using Tools/Outline Numbering you can then use the navigator, the Bullets & Numbering toolbar or the (shift)Tab key to promote or demote headings. The trouble is that when you do that it changes the paragraph style (eg Heading 1 becomes Heading 2) but the outline level, and therefore the numbering, appears to remain the same. However if you go into Tools/Outline Numbering and just click [OK] the correct outline level and numbering is displayed. The same thing happens if you save the file and reload it.
