I have created several LaTeX2e source files with extensions .tex. I want to open
them in writer so that I can use writer to edit the files. Please note I do NOT
want to import them (in the sense of writer filtering the latex codes and
converting them into writer codes) - I simply want to see the whole file (code
and all) in writer like any other text file.
However, attempts to open the file lead to a General Input-Output Error and the
file does not open. From the activity I can make out that Writer has probably
imoprted the file (it has read it and understood that this is a text file) but
is unable to display it.
The other thing is that if I rename the file so that it does *not* have a .tex
extension anymore, writer opens it.
OS: Mandriva Linux LE 2005
OO Version: OpenOffice 2.0.2 downloaded from the OO site (not bundled with the
OS)
I also have installed the Writer2latex2e filter installed and it works without
any problems (I only mention this in case it has any relevance to this issue)
Reproduced below are lines from a rudimentary tex file (call it abc.tex)

If this is saved as a file with a .tex extension and opened from within writer,
it may be possible to reproduce the issue
