2005 -------
I've created an Apache2 DSO (in Delphi) that accepts files from a website and
attempts to convert them to PDFs via COM/OLE automation using the OOo Writer
component.

If I run Apache2 as a service the only file(s) that appear to work are the
Writer native formats (.swx/.odt) any other file generates an error and it
appears that different file types generate different errors. Where as if I run
Apache2 as an application then every file format (.txt, .html, .doc, .swx, .odt,
etc) correctly opens and a PDF file is created. I've written a stand-alone
win32 application using the same COM/OLE code and the stand alone application
also works with every file format correctly.

Prior to the 2.0 Beta the COM/OLE automation was impossible to do with a service
application because of the way that OOo 1.x was being installed on the target
machine.

Please contact me for further details or for a copy of the demonstration
applications/code.
