I've written a patches for the 0.9.0rc2 and 0.9.0rc3 ac97-codec driver in order to
support the Yamaha YMF753. This chip is used in the Toshiba Satellite 5000. Support is
provided for S/PDIF output, enhanced (wide) stereo, and the non-standard tone
controls. All features appear to work.
Grab it
Yes, that's it.

I am testing out the cs46xx experimental DSP drivers on the 9/22 cvs
build on a TB Santa Cruz. The drivers work fine except for the fact that
all sound is "flat"--almost no base at all. This is in comparison to the
original cs46xx drivers that come with rc3. The sound quality difference
is ver
When tyring to use beta6, ..., beta9, I get an error
in the device open() call that states an unknown/bad
ioctl command. The beta6 worked well with the 2.2.19
kernel. I am wondering if this is a problem when used
with a 2.4.19 kernel. Can anyone validate? It seems
that the only way the PVERSIO

Well, it would be more accurate to say that the
"built-in" code wasn't a priority. I was also hoping
that Linux 2.5+ would make the entire problem

Ok, so it was my fault. I shouldn't have mixed the alsa-kern

I just checked the current version, and it seems to be Ok. I didn't try
xmms, but mpg123 plays through OSS just

Hi,
I get the last CVS snapshot (from today) of alsa-driver
and I try to compile it on my new machine with a 2.4.19
kernel.
At the beginning, I had hard to figure out that the
directory alsa-kernel was missing.
Ok, I get it from the rc3 release.
Then, I tried the following command line:
./cvsc
In the past I developed an application with release
0.9.0beta6 on a dual 1Ghz Pentium 3 with the
Hammerfall Light. Tha application would read 2
channels from a DAT player @48Khz. I now must upgrade
the hardware to a dual Pentium 4 and a newer kernel.
The beta6 doesn't seem to work with the newe
For two weeks now, compiling the ALSA from CVS, I get distorted sound
through XMMS with the ALSA plugin and also from mpg123 with OSS. Does
anybody has the same problem?
