Hi,
I have just downloaded the latest alsa-kernel cvs and installed it.
The sample rate converters and rate setting functions seem broken.
For example. I can output at any rate to a SB Audigy2 because it does
not need any sample rate conversion, but if I use the intel8x0 chip for
sound output, t
Mic input doesn't seem to work on the Soundstorm with
the latest ALSA rc. Yes, I have checked that I have
both 'CAPTURE' and 'Mic' set to full under ALSA mixer
and its not a hardware fault as it was working fine
when I was running RH9 with an earlier ALSA.

Howdy. And the answer is maybe - it depends on the card I think. OTOH
I could be wrong. Anyway, welcome aboard.

I've just joined this mailing list.
I'm a newbie, so I'll just lurk for the moment.
I hope ALSA supports hardware features in certain sound cards (like hardware
mixing, sound buffer memory, and so on) like DirectSound does in Windows...

Another person with LiveDrive said it does work, but
it does not work for me. The port works in MS Windows with
the driver: SB Live!
I'm using older alsa drivers so maybe this is fixed already.
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 0.9.3c.
Compiled on May 25 2003 for kernel 2.4.19 with versioned symbols.
I can sucessfully run two instances of arecord with the dsnoop plugin

Thanks!
Out of curiosity: how did you manage to keep binary compatibility?

Hello,
I have been unsubscribed from alsa-devel for a while, so maybe i missed
the discussion about this, but a quick look at the archives did not reveal
anything.
I just downloaded alsa 1.0.0rc2, and discovered that the API changed.
For example (and this is only an example), take the function

Is there any documentation for the squillions of interesting-looking
event types defined in snd_seq_event_type? I'm only familiar at all
with the MIDI-based types, and I've failed to find anything referring
to most of the others except for the trivial generated documentation.
