so... I got Alsa.9b8 to try and get some realtime syncing of my DVD
playing. Congrats on Alsa, very well done! It emulates OSS perfectly and
works as well, if not better than OSS and I love the modularity of it, not
to mention the source is very well commented.

I am having lots of problems getting the oss emulation to work in

there aren't. :[
there is only one sample-asoundrc called asoundrc.txt in
alsa-lib/doc. this is only provided by the cvs version, in the tarred
packages this file isn't in. i attache it to this mail.
it took a long time for me too get this file and figure out how it
works. now i think i understand

I have an AD1812 sound card. I can't find a Linux driver for it.
Is it compatible with Alsa? Or I can use it as SB?
